Hormotional: Female Reproductive Health and Pubertal Hormones

This presentation seeks to explore the timing and production of female reproductive hormones and how menstrual cycles are physiologically regulated. It seeks to examine some commonly seen menstrual irregularities, answering why these irregularities can occur and how they are treated. Finally we discuss the pharmacologic options for the regulation of female reproductive hormones, and how to approach sensitive topics with adolescent female patients.
Primary Audience:
This discussion is useful for anyone involved in the care of female patients who experience menstrual cycle irregularities or ovarian dysfunction. Pediatric nurses, Pediatric Advanced Practice Providers, and Pediatric Endocrine nurses and APPs are the target audience, but most will benefit from this review of menstrual regulation and discussion surrounding the treatment of menstrual irregularities.
Goal/Purpose:
This activity will explore female reproductive regulation and menstrual irregularities. It will review female reproductive hormone regulation and pharmacological treatments for menstrual irregularities and ovarian failure.

Diabetes in the Pediatric Population: Where we Have Been and Where we are Going (Joint SPN and PENS Webinar)

Program Overview
This case-based enduring activity will cover the diagnosis, treatment and management of children with growth/growth hormone disorders.
Target Audience
This activity is intended to meet the educational needs of pediatric nurse practitioners (PNPs) and other pediatric-focused advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs).
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the program, attendees should be able to:
- Review methods to measure and plot height and to calculate height velocity and midparental target height to allow early diagnosis of growth disorders in pediatric patients
- Identify diagnostic criteria that allow differentiation among various causes of growth deficiency
- Identify tools for better communication with patients and families and coordination of multidisciplinary care
- Discuss challenges in the referral to specialists for the diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency or other diseases responsible for short stature and their appropriate management
